I was thinking to switching to a five string from a four and down-tuning the B to an A so that I have an octave skip with only one string in between, both strings of the octave open. Does that sound like a good idea? I'm thinking some light high fret work to the low rumble of the low A string.

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Massachusetts, USA | | | If you are concerned about mud, you could always try a slightly higher-gauge (thicker) low string... if your cab can handle low B, there's no reason it shouldn't handle low A as well, there's not that much difference in frequency. |
