5 String Songs

Not sure if this is the right place, please move it if it isn't.

Anyway, I recently got a new 5'er and learnt a couple of songs on it to help me get used to the spacing and integrate the low B into my playing, but now I find myself at lack of five string songs. Suggest me anything and I'll learn it.

If you like rock, papa roach from the infest album used all 5 string stuff, not only that but the songs make for excellent exercises to get you use to it. It's what I learned on(I had the official tab book). These days I can't stand papa roach but it's still great to learn and exercise your fingers on.

Not a big Papa Roach fan, but I'll try it out.

"Stay - I miss you" by Lisa Loeb has a low F on the chorus that is much easier to play at the 6th fret position on the B than it is 1st fret on the E because most of the song is played between the 3rd and 8th fret positions - B, E, A and D strings with one note each on the B and D strings.
Transitional notes back to the G after the first two lines of the verse of "Country Comfort" (Elton John) performed by Keith Urban sound much better to my ear played on the B.

May not be your cup of tea, but "Torn Between Scylla and Charybdis" by Trivium uses the whole 5 string bass range. It even has two bass solos in it. My favorite song to play right now.

Also, 311 songs are always fun to play.

Pick a country tune in G, A..12 bar blues in B, C, D and E.

Try transposing some songs you already know to a lower key to get used to the B string.

I hear ya and I agree, but it's great use of a 5 string. Other than that +1 to what diabolic said.

Thanks for the advice.

I use mine for Time Warp, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, and Gimme Three Steps.

There are a few Audioslave songs where Tim C. is tuned BEAD. You could use your 5 on those...that is if you are into Audioslave. Les Claypool (Primus) does quite a bit on 5 and 6 string basses as well.

Joe Jackson's Big World album. Great 3-piece backing him up with lots of the B-string on the 5.
