Hey guys. I'm a long time poster who recently changed my username so dont worry I will come back to see your replays

I'm a junior jazz studies major (upright and electric) , and I have been obviously giving a lot of thought to what I wanna do. Talkbass has always been a valuable resource. The internet is a wonderful thing!

Anyway due to many reasons I'm gonna give Nashville a shot at some point. Probably not right out of college...

But one of the things I like to do is learn tunes even if they are simple. I love getting a rock gig and learning 40 tunes in a week! That's my **** .

Anyway... I have a list of 50 soul/R&B/funk tunes I'm working on, but I also wanna build my "working band" repertoire. Anyone have any idea for country and rock and pop tunes I can't leave for Nashville without learning..

If you have any links to songlists, specific songs, or just artists I'd like to hear your thoughts. Obviously I've got to learn the skills to play songs on the fly as well as well whatever **** I'm working on, but I just wanna plow through some repertoire!!!

Thanks for any help.

Wonder if a different section of the forum might yield some responses.. I guess this is kind of a time consuming question haha.

Unless already in Nashville or now playing as a studio musician somewhere I don't think we would be qualified to answer that question.

I'm only acquainted with one person that has "gone to Nashville". Kacie Mucgraves started playing mandolin and singing when she was 9. Went on Nashville Stars right out of high school, voted off in the first round then went to Austin and worked "in the industry" for 3 to 4 years. She is now in Nashville working full time as a songwriter.

So she has been gathering her music for about 15 years. How many songs I have no idea. For more on Kacie http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...c04a2e0413f5a3

Good luck.
