Ok so I'm 15 and I know what I want to do with my life; play bass. i've been playing for about 2 and a half years now.

I'm racing through bass grades under Rockschool (google them) currently doing grade six and im finding it easy so after i pass my exam im going to skip to grade eight.

Ive heard about this place in London (i live in ireland) ACM that offer degrees in contempory music and I was just wonder does anyone here go to it?

What kind of qualifications do i need? and what route should i take to it, should i attend my local tech and do a bass course then move on .. or go when im 16?

thanks ryan

There's an ACM in guildford and its great, I'd recommend it to anyone, only did a few days there last summer but it was great,

basically, get ya GCSE's out the way, then you have the choice of goin to 6th form, tech, ACM, or just quitting education all together and playin gigs or whatever (wouldn't advise this). Its up to you whether you want to focus everything on music, or get some more qualifications.

If you go the a level route, you can always do a summer course or whatever there or do a levels related to what your music, im studying music tech, physics, resistant materials and modern history at 6th form.
This gives me somethin to fall back on if the whole music thing goes tits up. Im also considering about studying a music technology course at uni.

but yeah if your set on a life of music and bass, then finish school and go to ACM when you're 16, but really its your life.

Oh yeh,im pretty sure you need GCSE's to get in and study full time there (like 5 a-c or something).

Good luck with whatever you do.
