Achilles Last Stand -zeppelin help

Hey. I've been trying to learn that song lately and its a challenginh bassline since jpj uses a pick on an 8 string. Its a real chug a chug gallop style bassline. Can anyone give me some advice on how to use a pick for that song? I have a Fender Jazz, 4 string.

the nearest you'll get is by using alternate picking, anchor your pinky/ring finger on the strings (so your hand isn't 'floating' freely), and getting the muted ghost notes by lifting your left hand so the strings aren't on the fret but your hand is on the string.. turn your gain up, lots of high mid, and maybe a bit of chorus would emulate the 8 string sound to an extent, but that's about as close as you'll get
