This should be moved to Miscellanious... but FWIF...

I got in to Mount Allison University here on the east coast of Canada, and they are a very prestigious music school.

All i had to do was pass the Audition... i donno about you...?

I took International Baccelaureate Music too. Its basically the highest level highschool music course that you can take in th public school system.

as for GPA... keep it as high as possible... duh...
just try your hardest.

I went to Mohawk for a while. It is an easy program to get into. You need a general grade 12 english credit, and a basic understanding of theory. If you can walk jazz bass lines you shouldn't have any trouble getting in. If you are serious about music I would take a closer look at Humber College. No offence to Mohawk, but it seems to be declining in popularity. Frankly they are accepting way too many students that aren't really that serious.

Yes,I looked into Humber I want to go for my Music Degree, and Mohawk has some good Universitys to transfer too.

Humber apparently is immpossible to get into for the degree ive heard. Im in gr.9 so i hagve time to practice but dont you need to have amazing upright skills for the degree or can you get a degree with electric bass?.

thank you so far for everyones help.

I am sure you could get a degree with electric. It certainly helps if you are able to play upright as well(not just for getting a degree!)

+1.

If you can get a hold of an upright, your "I want you in my School" points will increase tenfold.

very true since L&M has $50 a month for a Student Upright i shall be renting one in august,so I have a full month and the rest of july to work on my electric bass theory.

So have any of you gone to Humber or Mohawk and gotten a Music Degree?

and What are some other schools other then Mohawk and Humber Colleges that are good for music degrees?
