Exclamation affording school

Hey!
Sorry, this is a boring one! I just completed an application for Berklee College of Music! yay! I have the audition coming up and my only concern right now is affordability. I am not in a wealthy family and do not have a high paying job (mcdonalds). I really want to advance my education on the bass guitar. I have been looking into scholarships, but I'm starting to think that these are out of the question. Let me know if any of you have had experience with raising this much college money! Help a brother out!

Peace
wes

My one piece of advise to you is this: if you're going to go into debt for an education, make 100% sure that getting a return on that investment is feasible.

Yeah man. Thats a good call. My dillema is that I would love to go study music, but 'm not sure what I would get out of it. I am already fairly advanced for my age and have put a lot of money into education. Music is really all I have going for me. Perhaps it'll be wise to save my money and invest directly into a music career. Thanks elgecko!

Why Berklee? I mean, I know its the cream of the crop, but theyre are lots of schools out there for cheaper, and with better financial aid programs. Believe me, Im a Junior in high school and I want to major in music engineering (producing, mixing, etc.) and there are other schools than Berklee.

Belmot, Vandebilt, Musicians Institute, Ohio University, the Ohio State University, the list goes on and on.

Go to a state college/university and pay much less. If Berklee is going to give you a full ride scholarship then by all means jump on it. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere.

Go to a "real" college, perhaps a state school. Study math, language, history, electives, along with music. Mix with students with same and other interests, and get a certification in music ed. Start double bass from scratch. Spend the extra $$ on the best bass teacher that you can find. If after all of this, you're good enough to turn pro, you can hit the road for a few years, then/or, get a "real" day job with salary AND benefits. Then, you can STILL play on the side.
