Anthony Wellington steals the show on Vic DVD

I ran up to Guitar Center last night and picked up Victor's new instructional dvd.

I wasn't all that impressed with it, at first, as it's more of a fireside chat, like how i'd imagine that this video is the equivalent to being at one of Victor's Nature's Camp in the woods, where you can be at one with your instrument, ewww.

If you've seen a Victor clinic, it's all the same info.

The students that are participating in the video seem a little too star struck, to really step out & delve into questions or question Victor about specific things.

The last chapter, on the first dvd (as their are 2) has Anthony teaching, i won't spoil it for you'll, but if you have trouble with ryhthmn, Anthony really shines in his teaching formula for developing a good practice regime.

Anthony made the dvd well worth the $39.95!

I might run down to where he teaches at and see if i can get him to autograph my copy for me.

He also used to have some rhythm lessons on his web page. Not sure if they are still there...

Yes, Anthony teaches the modes of paradiddles (modes of rhythm as they are called) on the dvd as well, but in addition, Anthony has specific exercises that target the timing issues on the dvd to practice with.

I won't give his trade secrets away, you have to pick up the dvd to see how he teaches this concept.

Myke, you know Anthony more than likely has extra copies of the dvd at a reduced price, or it's right there in the lobby area with all his other instructional tapes & dvd's where you could sit & watch it. I know when Victor released his first book, Anthony had a few extra copies of it for sale.

When i was studying with Ant (all of 2007) sometimes i would try to purposely get to my lesson early with Anthony, so i could eavesdrop on whatever student was before me, as i'd essentially be getting a lesson for free, just by listening to how Anthony was teaching him. You'd be suprised at how some of the nicest sounding players can't grasp simple concepts to save their life.

But yeah, i ran up to the Rockville store last night to pick up my copy and they were fully stocked with them.
