ANTHONY WELLINGTON'S 'MODES OF RHYTHMNS'

Sign in to disble this ad
Have any of you out there, that have studied under Mr. Wellington, come up with your own paradiddle formula's?
If so, please list some so i can shed those!

For instance:

HOEE SLTPT TPEE SLTPT

This will probably look like greek to some of you, but this is a simple slap pattern.

Why don't you explain it then - information that someone can't understand is worthless.

Anthony has devised a slap formula and it goes as follows.

HO = Hammer On
E = Thumped Open 'E' string
SL= Left Hand Slap
T = Thump
P = Pluck

there are 8 modes of this pattern by shifting each technique an 8th note over.

Anthony has devised a sort've mathmetical formula to get us beginning slappers, up and running.

I too was doubtful initially, but i've been having a ball working through these slap patterns.

It takes a little while to get accoustomed to them, as to making them sound rhythmically musical, but once you get the pattern down, it's likened to watching a boxer hit a speed bag.

I saw it demonstrated at a clinic last Saturday. I sat 5 feet from Victor Wooten, and about 15 feet from Anthony. The 2 r simply amazing. Since the 1st of May i have read "The Music Lesson" attended the clinic, and bought "The Groove Workshop" dvd.
I'll never be a Victor or Anthony....but I am coming through this experience with new views and ideas. How to take some slappin and poppin i been doing for decades....start at different points in the lick or rhythm and JOILA!!! sounds like a new lick!!
Who says ya cant teach an old dog new tricks
