Question Any great bass music books?

I need something really challenging! And Something with wide varieties of technique! I really hate tablature (waste of time imo), however, I would like a book that I couldn't go online and find tabs for! Can anyone help me pick my next bass music book?? I love jazz, funk, soul, r&b, and blues. Help me out brothers (and sisters)!

Do you have a Real Book yet? They come in both treble and bass clef. I think that mastering the melodies to the jazz standards is a great way to improve sight-reading, expand your knowledge, and force you to figure out a lot of fingerings on your own that will give you a greater command of the instrument.

And, it's fun.

Thanks for the help bro! I'm a very fluent reader in both bass, treble, and C-clefs and I'm really just looking for a challenge. It has been a long time since I last stared blankly at peice of music wondering "what's he thinking?" or stuff like that. You know? I need something to help get me back in the game!

The companion booklet to Jamey Aebersolds Volume 6 transcribed basslines of Ron Carter playing Parker tunes. Bob Cranshaw's lines to Blues in All Twelve Keys also. Solid lines and useful stuff to steal.

Concepts for Bass Soloing by Mark Johnson and Chuck Sher.

Standing in The Shadows of Motown for Soul.

Blues? no books! It seems to go against the genre!

All wonderfully Tab free.

not to mention knowing these songs inside and out is important

get a real book. learn all the songs it has that you know. melody, chords, basslines, this will help you in every aspect of your playing.
