Any reccomended bass teachers in the sf bay area

Sign in to disble this ad
I have searched on google, and these forums to find a good bass instructor in the sf bay area, and have yet to find something of interest. I have taken lessons for a year, then took a year off of lessons, and know want to return.

I am looking for a Bass teacher who has:
Recorded on a few CD, toured, (im sure most bass teacher have)
Knows theory, more important how theory works
Plays in time (my old bass teach was all over the place with his timing)
Knows different kinds of genres of music (not just rock, or jazz)
Has a good ear
Knows how to play Jamerson licks
And most importantly challenges me.
I usually have had 30 min lessons, and after practicing hour a total of 3 hours, I have mastered all that I learned during the lesson. I want someone to give me a lot of thing to learn, so I can make use of my practice time.

Where specifically in the Bay Area? Big area, being more specific might get you closer to what you want to find...

I'm not currently taking any students, but I strongly suggest Bill Noertker, (www.noertker.com). He is a highly skilled teacher and musician. While he does not come acoross as an aggressive teacher, you will find yourself learning quickly and effeciently. He is brilliant. He is also a tremendously amazing person.

He was my teacher for over 5 years. I am currently taking a break while I pursue my doctorate, (also why I'm taking a break from teaching myself), but I know that I will return to him in time. I can simply not recommend Bill Noertker highly enough. You will find yourself immensely rewarded.

Walnut Creek area, or east bay, within 30 miles so sf works

I think Redhouse is in Walnut Creek...from what I read, they offer lessons, plus a chance to get together and jam with other students.
I take lessons from the School of Blues...my teacher is Frank Derose.
