Have you tried TabLEdit. It'll do Tab, Standard Notation as well as chord charts. Not to hard to learn, they have a trial version so you can see if you can catch on. I use it mostly for Tab and notation, and have been using it for a few years after comparing it to a number of similar products.

band in a box if you just want something to solo over. atleast thats what i use it for. basically it plays the chords you want it to play, over a drum beat, in a style you want. with whatever instruments you want.

or

finale if you have that kind of money.

I use PrintMusic, which is a step below Finale. Much better price, and all the functionality I need.

Progression will definitely do the chord/lyric chart...does really well with printing and is VERY easy to use. Oh and it's only $99.

MuseScore is free. It seems to focus more on notation (which is what I use it for) than on straight chord charts, but I bet it could be made to work.

I use "Band in a Box" for this purpose - it makes nice A4 lead sheets very easily!

Check out liveChord. It is the easiest and best chord chart software I have found.

Even simpler than Printmusic is Finale's "Songwriter" and it's only $50.

Finale SongWriter - music software
Try the 30 day trial download.

Musescore free and will work. It will not play back chord symbols though.

MuseScore | Free music composition & notation software

Sibelius also make s"Sibelius First", their equivalent to Printmusic.

Sibelius First - Write. Share. Play.
They have a 30 day trial too.

These programs will take learning to know how to use them.

I think Power Tabs does about everything. You can import a midi file and it will tab out the guitar and bass lines automatically. It has lyric capability too.
It also has a built in guitar/bass/banjo turner.

It's FREE!!
