any suggestion to start learning some piano

everyone tells me that all bass players should learn a little basic piano so i bought one the other day and i am looking for some books to get started.any suggestion??thanks in advance

buy any book that teaches chords, triads, and scales. then check out Mark Levine's book.

I'd also consider Hanon's 60 excercises for piano, and learnig the basic chords to some jazz standards....

please note...

No one expects you to get through the stuff overnight. Please enjoy the learning process. It will take as long as it takes...

The Albert series method books are very, very good. (Hmmm, I think it is called "Albert".)

I think you're thinking Alfred. I went throught the 3 Adult Beginner books in a year with my teacher (but I had the theory down, so we skipped a lot)

However, for school, I'm going through the (mandatory) piano course with the Bastien book "The Older Adult Beginner Piano Course." I think this is a better book for self-teaching, such as (I think) you are doing. However, nothing is better than a real teacher.
