Been doing some transcriptions, but not 100% confident with my ear and wondered if anyone might take a glance over and check them for me? It's just soul stuff at the moment.
They are posted up here as PDF's: http://dodgebass.co.uk/?page_id=36
Thanks in advance!
Ian

I checked out the rhythm on "She Caught the Katy" not the notes, and I hear a few differences. But they are very minor. And who is to say that Duck Dunn didn't get it wrong?
Bar 40 - I hear the Bb being played with an 8th, quarter, 8th instead of four 8ths.
Bar 41 - same as bar 40 for the first notes.
Bar 43 - I hear quarter notes like the rhythm in bar 39.
Bar 45 - I hear 8th, quarter, dotted quarter, then 8th notes at the end and not 16ths.
Bar 81 - I hear two 8th notes at the beginning instead of a quarter.
Bar 82 - I hear the lower B being played for 2 8th notes
Bar 94 - The first 8th should be a low B, and the F should be two 8ths instead of a quarter.
Is this the detail you want?

It's funny that in bar 17 Dunn may have made a mistake. It's like he lost his place and forgot to make the transition to the chorus for half a bar. In the Blues Brothers version, he doesn't do that.

Thanks again. | Maybe we have different recordings? Here is just those 2 bars from what I have: Bars 93 and 94.mp3
But if you hear a high note, I'll accept your version. You did all the work!

Although, in my defence I think my version sounds better and I'm going to use it myself in some soul stuff I'm playing! so everyone's a winner!

This is a little off topic, but in some other forums people are talking about a book called "This is Your Brain on Music" and it talks about how your brain takes the input its receives from the ear and creates mental sounds that really don't exist in the real world. In the real world its just vibrating air molecules. Your brain makes them into tones and notes. So, my point is your version was correct because it did exist in your brain. Now, it's gone!

Bar 24 - Man those are some fast 16th notes at the end. I hear 8th notes. But they could be there.
Bar 51 - 53 and into Bar 54 - I hear a low E.
Bar 71 - I hear a quarter note on beat 4.

If you're keen on this kind of thing would you mind if I sent you a few more in a few weeks when I get them done? No worries if not, I don't want to be cheeky, just I can't find anyone around here who will check em for me!
Ian

Check your PMs. Being that you have a Donald "Duck" Dunn theme going, I've sent you links to a transcription I did of "Time is Tight" by Booker T. & the MGs. Feel free to check it for errors and post it to your web site.
Also, it won't hurt my feelings if you add the chords to it like you did on some of the others. I love the ending to that song and the chord progression they selected.
I use GuitarPro. If you don't have it, tell me what you want changed and I will change it.
Thanks
