I found this interesting method on the web: http://www.fret2fret.com/
It is supposed to work for bass too, though it speaks generally on guitar.
Is anyone familiar with this? Does it really work?
Thanks |

I would bet someone who learned the fretboard in 45 minutes won't know how to use it to make music. The best teacher is playing. Then analysze what you played figure out the weak areas and work on them. Also practice is helping your ear and understand how things fit together. Playing and practice are the real teachers.

| | | | Pathetic.
Kurt Cobain, while a brilliant songwriter, was not one of the "very best guitar players in the world" who knew "where every note is located on their guitar."
Looks just like the garbage 3-page Rex Hull ad that ran in Bass Player: how to humiliate and intimidate other musicians, get laid, and save the world overnight with these top-secret bass tricks only the pros know. And the pros? They're suckers - they practiced the HARD way; you can master your instrument in 30 minutes!!
I could go on and on, but why? These douchebags couldn't play with the Shaggs. Avoid at all costs. |

Thanks | Well I think this is the full blooded bass version.... http://www.bassguitarsecrets.com/?aid=784a7e97
To me it sounded just like a money sucker but would like others opinions anyway... but I listened to the audio demos, and found even more by following other links in the add and just was not impressed enough to send any money. But I did play along on a mailing list for a little bit, but eventually they quit sending emails.

| | Registered User | | | | | What good tips you have to get really familiar with the fretboard notes? I've been playing bass for over 20 years, and somehow, this has always been my weak part, or at least one of them.
There are parts of the neck I can tell while asleep, but some that I have to think for a few seconds, or count frets to tell the notes. |

I'm in the process of learning the neck myself. My teacher gets me to play all the major scales up and down, all over the neck while singing/saying the notes to myself. It's working, as I think I've almost nailed it. Hope this helps. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
