App to learn sight reading

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone,

I wasn't whether I should post here or in the offtopic forum, please move the post if suits the off topic forum better.

Anyways, I'm trying to improve my sight reading. About 6 months ago I found an awesome iphone app that would show me a note in the bass clef, and then it would recognize if I played the right note in my bass (it used the mic on the iphone).

Now I want to download the app again and I can't find it (don't remember its name).

Does anyone know the name of the app or another software with the same features in mac os platform?

Thanks for your help!

How 'bout just get Bach's Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello?

Play through them SLOWLY. Work up the tempo. Should keep you busy for a few years.

That's the "best app" I can suggest. And the are free - all over the internet.

Bach must have had some good sidemen.

Sorry say, but is the rhythm always so constant? I won't use it anyway, just curious. It doesn't look to be a good rhythmic training.

Sorry? Yes, it's rather constant.

But if Bach is below your ability, you could work on this:

Irony needs good taste to be used, my friend. You obviously missed this lesson.

I always thought that an app that would flash random notes on the screen would be a cool thing. A tachistiscope emulator of sorts. You could select certain pitches only if you'd like or select all and set the rate at which notes changed.

musictheory.net has a good online app that does this.

People's fascination with Technology never ceases to amaze me. By breaking out some paper charts and sitting down with them I feel so dated.

It doesn't change notes automatically though. I'm thinking of something that will flash notes rather quickly as well as slowly.

The topic is about sight-reading. Maybe you, my friend (really? ) missed that lesson.

Now, about the irony bit (not that there was any)... I don't have the interest to explain it to you.

Might've been funnier if it was on a bass clef.
