'Autumn Leaves' accompaniment needed for audition

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I need to record 'Autumn leaves' for audition, and I need some
sort of karaoke recording without the bassline on top of which
I could play the walking line, plus maybe do a bit of soloing.
I know its quite a popular piece, maybe anyone knows where I
could get the karaoke version? Or maybe someone could share it?
I could record the drums and piano myself, but unfortunately I have no
time for that.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Dex

If you have midi, go to musicrobot.com, search for the tune you want, download a few versions of the tune you want, fire up your midi file player with some General Midi sounds, change the key and tempo to suit, and mute the bass track. You can play along with your instrument at whatever tempo or key you are comfortable.

Jamey Aebersold. I'm sure they have Autumn Leaves in one of the books. Will be a (good) real drummer and piano, much nicer than a MIDI file.

Don't forget to check out Band In A Box. Not as 'musically' satisfying as the Aebersold recordings, but more flexible in terms of tempo and key (you can set it to anything you want).

Good luck.

they do and there is a play along disc too if its still in print....your balance control on your stereo can lower the volume on the bass and the notation for that bass line is in the tyrone wheeler bassline book also by abersold

Aebersolds are great, I think Hal Leonard also have a play along series and these are similar in that the audio tracks do not have the head or melody - so if you use these you'd have to play the head, or get someone to. If the audition is for playing walking bass, another idea is to get a track by an artist of the tune, record one side with your bass playing and one side with the track. Better if you have a chance to mix your playing high over the track, so that any chance of mono playback still lets you get heard. It's an audition tape for your playing so in my bok that should be fine unless you have been advised specifically to do this or that.

Most of the Aebersolds will have the head notated in charts, but the audio rarely if ever has the head played.
