| | Registered User | | | | | AWESOME Chromatic Trick - Lesson with Scott Devine Hey there guys...
I've just put a brand new video lesson together for you.
In this lesson I demonstrate an absolutely KILLER chromatic style lick... then I show you how you can start to expand on this idea by just moving the shape around in a chromatic fashion.
Hope you enjoy it!
Check it out here... http://scottsbasslessons.com/awesome-chromatic-lick
Over and out,
Scott. |

| | | | Scott, is the string-spacing on your bass narrower than standard, or do you just have gigantic hands? |
09-27-2012, 08:43 AM
| | Registered User | | | | Lol... Yeah the string spacing is 16.5mm... so a little tighter than the average, which I think on a jazz bass is around 18mm.
... But... my hands are pretty big anyway so it makes the string spacing look REALLY tight
Thanks for checking the lesson out!

I'm always appreciative of the time you spend explaining the underlying thinking of the theory and harmonic context that each lesson supports. Your stuff is exceptionally illustrative of how to pragmatically apply all that 'theory stuff' to bass lines.
Cheers |

Once again, A Great lesson.
Your generosity in posting all the lessons is beyond compare.
Thank you!
I can do the lick...slowly You make it look so easy!
You mentioned in the lesson that this lick may not work for country or similar music where you're having to concentrate on the root. When you get the time could you post a riff/lick/sexy notes lesson on the genres of Country/Americana?

I assume that if you explained that as easily as it seemed you did, you can explain other stuff just as easily. I'm going to be practicing for quite a while... thanks a ton! |

| | Registered User | | | | Yeah... the first part of the tutorial is definitely more of a lick... but the at the back end of the tutorial I start to develop the idea and show how you can use the same idea - as in, shifting the same shape around in a chromatic fashion. That's why I called it a 'trick', just for a lack of a better word.
Anyway, thanks for checking out the lessons man!

| | | | Also big thanks from my side to Scott. I just converted from guitar to bass, and your lessons are just stellar to get up to speed on the basics of specific bass techniques. I cannot stress enough how skilled you are on the instrument and as a teacher.
There is one video where you talk about your musical background and career, which is inspiring as well.
Please continue your youtube lessons, I hope you also get some support from us clicking your videos.... |
