I'm looking to start practicing again after long layover. 2 years or so. I have full time job, doing some technical work for airline, so basically I have few hours in the evening before I go to sleep and I'm usually really tired after work, that's my main excuse.
In fact all this time I was playing with the band, but I lost a lot of my technical skills. The reason why I want to start practicing again is that I hate my job and I need the way to change things. I've read hundreds of articles on "how to find my dream job" and I still can’t find it, that's because I'm scared to admit that I want to be a musician, but I'm lazy to practice and improve my skills as a musician.
My band was recently offered to make a record and a video free of charge and I think I might be ashamed of my results on this record, so I need some practice.
The main problem is that after not having this routine for a while, I don't know where to start. I was thinking of improving bass lines that lay on a record and doing technical exercises. In fact my weak side is my ears and musicality. When I’m thinking about training ears and scales and all that stuff it really puts me off, though I know it is very important and if I work on that it may really change things for me.
I hope you guys can help me out, maybe someone else was going through a similar experience.
