Bass Cancellation Feature in Tascam MP-BT1, etc.

Sign in to disble this ad
I play in a rock cover band. Most of my practice time is playing along with original tracks. Has anyone posted any audio examples of how well the bass cancellation/enhancer feature on the Tascam MP-BT1 works? I already have gear (Tascam DR-07, Amazing Slow Downer) that loops, changes pitch, changes tempo, and adjusts eq. So I'm really looking for something that has a great bass cancellation feature - hardware or software.

Any recommendations and/or links to audio examples of the bass cancellation feature on the BT1, or other products? Thanks in advance.

Couldn't you just get the masters and make a copy with no bass at all?

What section should I post this question in? I did a search on Tascam Bass Trainers before posting and it lead me to this section. I'll be happy to repost my question in another section. Just let me know. Thanks.

I don't know how much Aerosmith would charge to get the multitrack masters of "Sweet Emotion", but I'm guessing it's beyond my budget. If you know of someway to get multitrack backing tracks that don't cost an arm and a leg, let me know. If I did have multitracks, then I could indeed mute the bass and that would solve my problem.

I have made my own multitrack backing tracks from midi files for years, and then just mute the track(s) I want to play myself. But, IMHO, the midi guitars never sound as good as real guitars and of course, with midi, there are no vocals.

If the Tascam Bass Trainer bass cancellation feature actually works, that would be great. I'm just afraid it will work as good as the karaoke vocal cancellation hardware/software that I have, where is might reduce the vocals, but they are still there, or maybe it will entirely kill the vocals, but take most of everything else with it. Knowing how poorly my karaoke/vocal cancellation products work, I would not spend the money on a bass cancellation product of the same caliber.

But technology improves and I am wondering if anyone can give me a good, honest review of the Tascam MP-BT1's bass cancellation feature. I know there are some happy owners of the BT1 on this forum, so I hope they will find this thread and offer up their opinions.

I have now posted this original question to the Amps section Bass Cancellation Feature in Tascam MP-BT1 headphone amp. Maybe that's a better fit.
