Well, there are bass duets out there. I played one in college when I was a music major, but can't remember the title or composer. It was written for two double basses. We had piano accompinament. This was for the music department's regular seminar that we had each week. Everyone had to play once for seminar, and everyone was there, including the profs. LOL, at the end, me and the other player (a short gal, on double bass no less) stuck our bows out and crossed them, clicking them together like a Wilkinson Sword commercial. Heh, heh, that esoteric crowd actually laughed, although I bet there were some who scorned such shennanigans. Big fun.

Sorry, but I can't remember what the piece was. But, when I saw the title of your thread I just wanted to share that. Good luck in your search and performance. Knock 'em out.

I'd either write or arrange something.

Look at Avishai Cohen's As Is....Live at the Blue Note clips on you tube....no duets but he flips back and forth between DB and EB, so it may give you some ideas. I know it's not a direct response to your question....just seeing a guy go back and forth in the same show felt like it might generate some ideas. Smash and Caravan are done on Jazz bass. Others DB.

Might be some trombone duets, too. Not sure about the range.

I just did a Google search and saw many listings for "double bass duets." You might also ask in the Double Bass Forum.

Check out Ray Brown's Super Bass. It's a trio, but you may get some ideas.
I played cello/bass duets (myself on cello) for part of my senior recital many years ago. We did Donna Lee and Blue Monk. The difference in register between the two instruments made for clear separation of voices.
If your requirements aren't too strict, you might want to consider using an electric bass with piccolo tuning. If that's not an option, find something that works well in your upper register while the DB stays in the lower.

Why not try something more classical this time?

International Music Company makes really nice volumes for not a lot of coin. Two Bass Duet books I have are 12 Duets for Two String Basses, No. 3030 and Classical and Modern Duets for Two String Basses, No. 1725.

Some are written in a mix of bass and alto clef, which can be a bit of a nuisance if you read bass clef and are possibly learning G clef, for example, but others are all in bass clef. Despite the notations for double bass (slurs, etc.), you can make a fine go of it on electric using hammer-ons, pull-offs and such.
