Bass Grimoire DVD

So I just watched the DVD version of the Grimoire... and I'm glad NetFlixed it instead of buying it. Totally dorky and not very helpful.

The guy sits there next to 2 fake flames, with a black hood over his face, talking with lot's of hand waving. Then he show almost every example on the keyboard... it's the BASS Grimoire! When they finally use a bass it's a crappy sounding picked (too fast) bass.

He seriously ran every scale, every interval up and down. The video was over an hour but could have been 5 minutes.

Sorry for the rant, just my experience.

I find the whole "Grimore" thing totally pointless. It's like those "75,000,000 Guitar Chord" books that show you every imaginable voicing of a C chord, then move it down a half-step and show you every imaginable voicing of a Bb chord, 95% of which are IDENTICAL to the C chord forms.

That stuff just annoys me- it's so much EASIER to just learn the theory behind that stuff and find it for yourself on the neck.

I couldn't agree more. I got the book per suggestion from a guitar friend. I couldn't make much sense out of the book so I asked my teacher and he basically summed it up as "a linear, math-geek, guitarists guide to scales." I never use it. I saw the DVD on Netflix and thought I'd check it out. Totally useless.

On a side note, anybody want to buy a "barely used" copy of the Bass Grimoire??
