I’m looking for a good bass teacher in San Diego again. I play allot of fast prog/ experimental rock. Can anyone recommend a good teacher out here? I'm really want to focus on the physical, and rhythm side of playing since I am already getting my theory side from school.

Sorry, I used one out of the Reader when I live there. I forget the name of the store, but there is a bass store in OB. Maybe they can help.

David Hilton - Ph: 858-518-6834

I took lessons from him for a while - good teacher and communicated well. Also, he was organized! I HATE paying someone who can't remember stuff from week to week.

He is a REALLY good fretless player - Berkley grad....

Old post, but since I studied with him for a period I'd vouche for him too. Awesome chops, really nice guy, patient, and at least with me caught my theory up to where my fingers were.

If you're into jazz or fusion definitely worth contacting him.

Also bumping for other instructors names/contacts out here, especially old school funkers and blues cats.

Another prop for David Hilton in San Diego. I took lessons with him for about five months and it really improved my
  • theory
  • improvisation
  • funk chops
