Bass for kids

I have an 11 yr. old nephew who is showing interest in the bass. I have a bass and amp he can use, but no one has the cash to spring for lessons.

So my question is does anyone know of any bass guitar instructional DVD's that would be well suited for an 11 yr. old? I was thinking about getting him the Rockhouse stuff, but didn't know if it would be right for his age. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Fast Track by Hal Leonard is pretty good ....it's less schoolastic than method book one ....is has tab/notation and a great play along book with reasonably modern production .....of course where there's tab prolly won't be any site reading ....so if you want the younger to read notation go with the method book 1 ....same as suggested above!

The younger she is, the better chance she has of learning to read notation. Later on, the desire to play songs and be "cool" will make it harder and harder to learn the things that take time and effort.
