Bass lessons in NYC (Manhattan)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys... I decided this year that I wanted to start learning abss this summer. So I bought a used bass and amp from eBay and now I'm looking for a teacher. I tried craigslist but nothing there worked out. Do you any of you know a good teacher for a complete beginner? Or do any of you personally offer lessons?

Thanks

The easiest thing you can do in NYC to find a teacher is to go to the bass shops on 48th Street, Sam Ash, Rudy's Music Shop, Manny's etc and ask those guys. They know everybody if they don't teach themselves. There are flyers posted in those stores as well and sometimes .. well ... more often than not ... there are people playing the instruments and they will know someone. One name comes to mind and that is Buddy Booker. Everyone says he's great! Good luck!!

Also ... I see that you're new to TalkBass so congratulations!!! One thing you will find is that there is a wealth of information from these guys!!!! Not trying to tell you not to get a teacher ... but. These guys know so much and if you listen you will learn a ton!!!! I am new myself and I have learned so much from these characters that I have not even thought about finding a teacher. They will stare you in the right direction ... you only have to listen and put in the effort. Good Luck on your journey!!!
