Bass Teachers - Roll Call

Since this is the General Instruction Forum, and people often look here to find bass teachers, it might be nice to have a thread devoted such a listing.

If you teach bass(es), theory, and other instruments, please step forward! Also, what city/area do you teach in? Can you be reached by PM by potential students? If not, how can you be contacted? How would you describe your teaching style?

For instance:
------------------------------------------------------------------
I teach bass guitar (fretted and fretless) and upright bass along with music theory. I am located in the Kansas City area.

My lessons are one hour weekly, though I do have students that take just one or two lessons a month. I do not teach with tab. Lessons tend to be about 50/50 music theory and actual playing.
I encourage my students to ask questions. Transcribing and ear training are also important.

Many students come to me with some knowledge of theory (modes, etc.), but have no clue as to it's application in real playing situations. I enjoy helping these students break through that barrier.

I stress the importance of good technique, but don't focus on "techniques" such as slapping, tapping, etc.. I encourage students to develop their own style, and would consider it a failure if all of my students sounded just like me.

---------------------------------------------------

I'm sure I'll use EDIT later when I think of other stuff to add.

If that's OK with the mods, I'll post my info. But until then, I don't think we should.

I'm assuming that this is okay, as it's info that TalkBass permits for the "profile" page. Sorry if it turns out I misjudged.

I think an educational campaign may be in order. First, instructors need to fill out their profile as to where they're available for instruction and what they teach, etc. TB members need to understand they can use Advanced Member Search to easily find instructors available in their area (if any).

[edit]
I don't moderate General Instruction so I can't say if this thread should continue or not. I've asked the appropriate mods to make that decision.

And that is what we shall do. I'll close this thread and make a sticky with this info.
