Looking for an advanced electric bass teacher in NYC or Boston. I'm a Berklee drop out, 22 years old living in Boston. I'm especially interested in advanced theory, technique and career advice/resources. I'm specifically looking for professional 5-6 string fusion/jazz players to study and work closely with.

Also, if anyone has tips or advice for finding a teacher, please let me know!

Hello all, I live in the Champaign/Urbana, IL area and I am looking for electric bass guitar instruction for beginners and beyond. I love the instrument, and know it would be worth the time and effort to build a strong base of understanding with a knowledgeable instructor who shares the same passion. I am a complete beginner, and beyond what I have tried to derive from books (very little) and what I have absorbed from friends, I have no formal training or basis to speak of. I used the Advanced Search to try and locate instructors in my state, but as I feared nearly all were located in Chicago, or simply listed as "Illinois". If you are an instructor or can point me in the right direction, please shoot me a PM, as I'm simply a 24 year old who wants to learn how to groove.

for those of you posting for instructors and cannot find anyone in your area- Have you considered Skype lessons? I've found that using headphones do indeed help-- and I've also recently installed Class A preamps online for voice and bass and the results have been Hi -Fi:-) my students are happy with the result.
Skype is totally free to install and free to make video calls...I truly believe the medium of interactive video instruction will do nothing but increase as technology has been improving so rapidly.
I'm a session bassist in Nashville and I do tutoring in my home studio as well...many of my former student are working pros now ----and not everyone can come to nashville or a major music town and distance learning can be a solution....... I've even had my local students Skype me when the weather is bad or scheduling so tight as to disallow travel time...

Hi all

I have just set up a pedagogical website in the aim of training all-round professional bass players (in-depth knowledge of styles and harmony/improvisation etc.).
Although some parts of the website require online payment, other sections provide free access to all and I hope they are interesting to read.
The site is to grow in size and content, with the help of suggestions from visitors and friends.

I need a tight compadré who will teach me how to rock

Hello, teachers around the world.

I am looking to find a teacher/coach to work through email or skype.
I was thinking more of a coaching thing, more than traditional teaching (I think it's better done in person, where you can better see hands, posture and gestures). Coaching, like giving homework and checking it, as well as guiding like a candle of sensei for a young samoorai on his way to bass Shaolin-hood .

Please, feel free to PM me for details.

Thank you.

Teachless in Seattle

Hello, my name is Mitch and I am an 18 year old bassist. I have a very strong knowledge of music theory, quite a quick study and can hear my way into almost any genre of music. I've received several awards in jazz bass from high school festivals and the like. I'm on the Eastside of Seattle, but I can certainly commute for the right teacher.

I have been searching for this right teacher for my whole time playing the bass, with many false starts, and now I believe I almost have all the tools to reach my goal of becoming a professional musician, whether that be as the noble chameleon of the session world or in the right place and right time with the greatest band in the history of Seattle.

Do you feel you have those tools and can impart them easily into a sharp mind? Do you find yourself getting frustrated with students who just can't learn fast enough, who don't practice, who don't even know what they want to learn? Most importantly, do you live in Seattle?

If your answer to most of these questions (but definitely the last one) is yes, I want to be your padawan in the quest for mastery of the bass guitar, the greatest instrument on earth! PM me anytime, I will be checking daily, I have had a long search and I sincerely hope that is my last stop.
