 Beginner Tab Question

This might be a laughable question but I've only been playing bass for a month or so.
When reading tabs, I've come to parts when two numbers are stacked on top of each other like a column. Now when on guitar, this means play the notes together like a chord. What does it mean for bass tabs? You aren't supposed to play chords when finger plucking right? |
