Good luck on your audition!

He did, and I didn't audition. I was the person interviewing students applying.

Gotcha man, haha. Sorry, I misread. But yeah, Tom's a ridiculously good player, but he's a strange guy. How was it being on the audition team?

it was cool. half of the audition is getting the people auditions to calm down, and relax. A lot of 'take a deep breath', and 'ok, are you ready?'.

The song you need to learn to play on Electric Bass is Peaches En Ragalia by Frank Zappa. The score is easily available too. This song is very difficult to play. It took me two months but I'm not a very good sight reader.

I grew up listening to zappa (my dad was a zappa freak), and learned this one for a jam band I was working with 3 years ago, I should still be able to revisit it.

Thank you Kobaia for all the information you have provided for me. I decided to just do a nice groove oriented piece for my audition (I will be soloing/walking over changes later in the audition anyway so it's better to seem versatile rather than a jazz dude only playing jazz). Any suggestions for nice pieces with a cool groove (whether it be latin, or funk I doesn't matter I can play either).

Thank you once again.

Pick a solid Bird tune and you're golden, Ornithology is perfect. If you want to go easier then something like Autumn Leaves is very welcomed and not at all frowned upon. They would rather see you take a simple standard and crush it then something difficult and just get through. Most importantly, pick a standard because all they really care about is hearing you improvise.
