Years ago, I didn't notice but, I played WAY harder on songs I liked, as opposed to ones I didn't like as much.
It forced me to really listen to
1. My own tone and volume.
2. The other instruments in the band
3. How the bass fit in with the other instruments.
A priceless bit of advice, given in a very blunt way. |

| | | | Keep your decks clean. It took me a lil time to fig that out i thought it met to keep my neck clean, but what it met was to keep my playing clean, make each note count and heard clear.

Picks can be used too, you just have to feel whether you should play a part with a pick or not. |

a bit of advice from the guy who taught me how to play. he was amazing with teaching proper technique and approach, but knew little to nothing about teaching theory.

'Leave space for (insert deity) to walk through the room'
'Every day you miss practice is one you don't get'
'Show up on time with good gear, kick arse and leave'
'You don't need thumbs to be funky'
'Breathe' (cos i used to hold my breath on tricky passages) |

Less is more
Music is not a competition
Record your practices
Make everything you play sound musical.
