Question Best Overall Book

Sign in to disble this ad
I know this can be somewhat subjective. I went to Amazon.com and found a LOT of bass technique books. Friedland, etc. Without getting one for beginners, and in 3 categories, which book would you (having actually seen it/them) recommend as being a really meaty book on (1) improving or bringing to light new ways of seeing patterns and improving? (2) Which ones without requiring solid notation skills? (3) So then, which is more helpful and applicable overall: the ones on developing walking, blues or rock? Hopefully everyone's conglomerated wisdom can help us all in this subject. Thank you.
(P.S. Yes I searched first.)

IMO the book has to have theory, scales, and technique. My recommendation is Bunny Brunel's Complete Bass Method (Mel Bay). It's not expensive and available at Amazon.
