Sailor's Hornpipe taught me why I need to strengthen ALL my fingers, and the importance of one finger per fret.

Tough...I'd say YYZ, but I've learned so many things from so many other songs. YYZ definitely helped build up my accuracy, speed, and technique. But I've also learned slapping from Marcus songs (namely Blast) and other techniques from countless other songs. I've also been influenced by just how I've heard certain songs and tried to replicate their techniques my own way...so it's difficult to pick just one song but if I had to, YYZ.

The solos in my generation got me to stop using just one or two of my fingers while I played.

10,000 days part 2 from tool.
I love this song.
Our band will be playing it next tuesday for the first time.
Hope it goes over well.
So far we have done stinkfist, sober, the pot and 46&2.
All of them awesome songs, and the crowd loved them. Life is good when you play bass for a tool tribute band!

Well there are a few:
1. Portrait of Tracy - Jaco Pastorius (a slop-fest by his standards but full of technique and theory)
2. Blackbird - Once again Jaco (Technique and a bit less theory)
3. And, for me, I'll throw "Money" - PF, in to the mix b/c it was the one of the first to emphasize 1 finger per fret and really requires some dexterity to play all the way through well

Songs I have written, one called deep inside. Made me make full use of the E pentatonic scale. For cover songs, I would have to say since I was looking to learn some "speedy" songs I would have to say "My Lovely Man" by RHCP. I love the verse in the song. Oh and black dog by zep is cool very catchy tune.
