two good sources:

1. http;//www.studybass.com

2. Ed Friedland's Blues Bass book/CD

3. After you've built a few chops, go find a Blues jam in your area, go to a couple to get the lay of the land and bring your bass on the second or third time.

+1

I learned more from going to blues jams when I was starting on bass (14 years old) than anywhere else. I may even go to one tonight ... 25 years later.

Call up some jamming video tracks and play-a-long. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUK5pE5x_6A That's the basic 12 bar blues progression. Roots only and see if you can keep up. Look on the right hand side of the screen - try some of those.

Little more challenging. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XD1NR...eature=related Again look at what is on the right hand side of the screen.

Here is a long discussion on the blues you might find interesting http://www.ibreathemusic.com/forums/...ad.php?t=18375

Ed Friedland's Blues Bass book/CD

Ed is the man
, sorry Jimmy you are a close second! LOL. Ed's book has all the blues licks, riffs, and songs you are going to need for developing your ability to sit in at a blues jam. You will have strength and confidence in playing. I have 30+ years playing and was honestly practicing with
Crosscut Saw" "Hoochie Coochie Man" and "Sweet home Chicago" just before I got on TB tonight. ED is also a TBr and will respond as a straight cat.
Ed, you ever in Central PA you got a home cooked diner coming!
