Does anyone know of any good books which will give me sheet/charts/tab/anything for jazz pieces.
It seems to me that there are certain pieces all jazz musicians seem to know, or at least that there are certain 'bread-and-butter' pieces which all jazz bands/players know.
So, does anyone have any ideas?

| | | If you want some basic straight up jazz standard charts try this site: http://ralphpatt.com/Song.html
They aren't as detailed, but you will hear and learn the changes more efficiently.
And they are easy to print and are FREE!!!
Good luck. |

| | | | Speaking of free and easy to print...
I've got lots of "standards" book I've paid for including the Real Book series,
and the old original fake book. I've also got Blakes RealBook online with charts,
mp3, etc. He's got a sale on the Parker charts, mp3's, etc.
But the greatest source, and I just found it, for ballads, up-tempos, standards, off-beat jazz standards, is the Guitarguy.com whereby he has nailed the tunes, chord changes, of a number of my fav charts/songs. I'm printing out the 600th page right now of a select number of ones I've played and asked to have played by others...many goodies right here...in my mind a gold mine of personal favorites from the guitar guy, who like me, has spent most of his life playing jazz guitar and singing many of these on-stage and in bistros. Check 'em out....print 'em out and you'll have an arsenal of tunes that are called out all the time. |
