broken marshal mg 100 amp head

Sign in to disble this ad
My friend who plays guitar left his head at my house. I was going to play along to the free jam tracks so I plugged my laptop into his head not knowing that the volume controls were maxed out.

I replaced the fuse and turned it on and the fuse blew right away. I took it apart, replaced the fuse again and when I turned it on it started smoking on the small, green circuit board that is mounted on the heat sink by the fan....and the fuse blew right away again.

any ideas? how can I fix it?

Angry Marshall mg100 head smokin

I bought one used and after about 5 mins of playing on it. the fuse blew. so i bought a new one and replaced it. the same thing happened to mine. the regulator on the block by the fan split and started smoking. i am going to check with the electronics parts store near my house to see if they have a new regulator that matches the one that burnt up. if so i will replace it and let you know if that fixed it. marshall said they would fix it for $150 dollars, but **** i can buuy a almost new one for that price used. whats your email addy. mine is Earth_crystalsg@hotmail.com shoot me a message.
