I'm not taking no for an answer. 4 years later.

Has anyone seen this DVD?

Never seen his DVD, but fwiw I studied with Bruce for two semesters when I was at Berklee in the early 1980s.

If I had to do it all over again, I... well, I probably wouldn't. And for that reason, I wouldn't buy his DVD either.

Then again, it's been almost 30 years, maybe he's got more to offer now? He's certainly an excellent bassist.

I had the same experience as Hoover (although I did get to meet an utterly wasted Mike Stern when I showed up for my first lesson with him at 10AM on a Saturday after they'd been up all night after the Friday night gig). Great player and would be a good choice as a teacher for an advanced student. I don't blame him for my lack of learning with him, I was just not ready. Still, how much can a DVD set you back? If you have been wondering about it all this time, why not just get it and let us know.

When I played and studied with Bruce at Berklee he was great, I'd say give it a shot

I've had a bunch of private lessons with Bruce in the past year, and I can also vouch for his talent as a teacher and musician.

I have a couple of his instructional books but not the one in question. In comparison to the numerous other books I have, they are equal in quality. All instructional books are limited: there are parts that some people will find helpful for their particular skill set weaknesses, and others won't find useful because of either lack of interest or lack of need.

So I don't think anyone can tell you what you personally will get out of any book, especially if you don't tell us what it is you want to get out of a specific book. Like the rest of us, you just have to bite the bullet and try it out.

Took lessons from Bruce while at Berklee in 1980. I didn't get that much out of it, but I know for sure that was me, not him. Great to see him playing, though. That was around the Mike Stern, Tiger Okoshi time.

Since then I've taught a student using his books. (The student brought them in himself.)

I was actually reading through one of his books last night. I haven't thought about it for many many years. I wasn't ready to tackle it at the time when I bought it but now that my reading and ability is "up to par" I found it very interesting/useful.
