classical or jazz etude

hey, i have an audition for this music school that i've been looking into that's comming up. I was wondering what would qualify as a good etude to preform for the audition. More specifically what would be a good jazz etude to do; would it just be like any standard out of the real book? And if it is would they just want to hear a melody line or what? Or should i just go all out and play jaco's chromatic fantasy like i've seacretly been planning to do, or might that not be the best idea?
any comments will be greatly appreciated.

One of the song I hear the most on audition is Donna Lee.
Most of the time it is a disaster. It's played too fast and not clean at all and no phrasing as well.
If you play a standard like that, make sure you can walk thru the changes as well and play it well with a good feel and tap your foot on 2&4.
Make it swings!!
