There have been a lot of threads like this. Use the Search feature to find them. They will point you to websites, books and other resources to teach you how to set-up and tune your bass, find the notes (learning the fretboard), relate the notes to each other (music theory), get a good sound, and practice to improve your finger skills.

Get a radio. Try to pick the notes on every song. If no radio, go with your favorites.

In due time you'll need a teacher. It's best if you can get one now, though.

Yep,
I've searched in the forum. I think I should learn from a book. There are many book I can learn from but I'm living in Vietnam, there's nowhere I can find those books and as I'm a student, I don't have enough money to buy one of them through the Internet. So anyone have a good book in pdf file, plz send me!

Money might be tight but this is the book that I'd recommend.

Ed Friedland's books are excellent.

For now (as mentioned by phectus), stay away from or at least limit the theory & or certain books. My recommendation also is to simply listen to your favorite songs and pick-out the notes, turn it up, and 'feel' the music. You can't 'feel theory' right now anyway. Keep it simple, then build from there... .

Always remember, music came first, then theory.
