Critique my bassline?

Sign in to disble this ad
Actually its not even much of a bassline, its more of a start of one or something :P

Its just a i-iv-V progression in C minor.

This is only the second time iv ever written, so please give me tips/advice.

By the way, the little notes with the cross outs are gracenotes, if you cant tell haha.

just a couple notational things, the lines you put under the chords I don't know why you are doing that. It made the F look like an E. Write out Cmin or C-, as those are kinda the accepted conventions.

When you have an 8th note followed by two 16ths in the same bar, they are all beemed across. Just makes it easier to read. The 4th bar seems to be missing a 16th, double check your rhythms. Same with the second last bar. Maybe you ment a dotted quarter as the 3rd beat of that bar?

Note choice wise tho it's all there. Cept in the lat bar where you have the chord written as a G and are playing an F. Bold move haha. Maybe try resolving that V chord to a i. Also just try to thin about the groove you are maaking. there is a half decent idea in that 4th and 5th bar. Just needs to be cleaned up a bit.
