At a crossroads....

I've been playing for a few years now and can hold my own - I have a couple of bands etc and I can transcribe simple lines. In short - I know enough to know I'm a hack.

I stopped taking lessons about 2 years ago but I haven't improved as much as I'd like since then - basically because I didnt practice. The lines I write are musically average.

I now have motivation again (thanks in a large part to this site).

But this puts me at a dilemma;

do I find a good teacher and start the lesson process again, or,

do i just continues transcribing and dissecting lines in my own time?

I think the main problem is - I don't know HOW to practice. Can I find out how by myself or is a teacher the way to go?
