The Definitive Orion Transcription/Tablature!

Sign in to disble this ad
After listening to Metallica's Orion isolated bass track on Youtube and comparing it to the transcription in my Cherry Lane bass book I decided to transcribe both bass solos as the original interlude solo has inaccuracies and the second shorter solo is not transcribed at all in the book. I used Finale software to transcribe/tab and with fellow TalkBasser Deathblade Eric's help, I was able to scan and compress into PDF files small enough to be able to upload on this forum.

The first file is the clean interlude solo from 3:58 to 6:16 whereas the second distorted solo is from 6:34 to 6:54. I had to use treble clef for the second solo in order for Finale's tab feature to work properly, I still had to move a lot of numbers to make it playable. Hope this helps anyone who has wanted to be able to play these solos note for note!

That's very cool! I noticed the tab for Master of Puppets had differences from the bass-only tracks on YouTube (taken from Guitar Hero, I think).
I call them differences and not errors, because I am sure that if the book author had access to the bass track back then, he/she would have caught them.
Good job!
