Depends what you mean by "makes sense"...

If you mean "Do you think this will help me become a better creator of basslines?" then yes, I think rigorous adherance to that program could only help.

But if you mean "Do you think this is a more efficient/quicker/more complete method to help me become a better creator of basslines than (insert any of a plethora of possible alternatives here)?" than no, I don't. It's just one approach, it addresses some issues that bass players can usually use help with, but it misses others. He hasn't reinvented the wheel, he's just looking at the wheel from a slightly different perspective than perhaps you or your current teacher are.

And btw, I completely disagree with the Stan Getz quote that "Improvisation is composition speeded up." It ain't. Period.

Me too, but it was the truth for Stan. He didn't read music, never transcribed anything. He played 100% by ear. That kind of intuition is one in a few million.

So then what Getz really meant was "Improvisation is intuitive composition speeded up." But there are many other types of composition, and almost none of the rest of them live in the moment the way improvisation (by definition) does.
