distortion peddel and new amp

ok everyone i recently got a new amp yay, but of course it is a bass amp and i was wondering is there a difference in distortion peddels for bass's and ones for guitars like there is in amps, or would a peddel for a guitar not do any damage to an amp for a bass?

Hi. Firstly it's spelt 'pedal'....

Distortion effects designed for guitar are quite often lacking in bass frequencies, so may end up being a bit thin in a band situation.

I've never heard of a guitar effect pedal damaging a bass amp, they just sound a bit crap sometimes.

If you go for something like a Big Muff they are well known for retaining bass frequencies and not being too harsh like many guitar pedals are.
