Does anyone want to check my work?

Hey everyone,

I was reading in the wiki section the proper way to costruct a jazz baseline using target and approach notes. So, I chose some random chords and tried it out on my own. I'm not sure if I am right or not so I was wondering if anyone would check my work.

Down to business
If the chords are G major...E major...G major...C major with all of the chords lasting for 4 beats would the bassline be...
G-#G-E-A-G-B-C
(All of the notes are half notes except for the last C)

So, would that be right, or does this make no sense at all?

your chord choices make no sense. assuming your in the key of G you've chosen a chord progression of 1 6 8 4 (these are scale degrees)..... you wont find this proggression in many places. I've never run into it and I've been playing jazz for years.

In saying that this should make more sense. Start by trying to have the root of each chord starting on beat one of each bar. Use chord tones to fill in the space between beats 1 and 4. Then on beat 4 try using a semi-tone higher or lower (depending on the direction your coming from) to lead into your target note (the new chord). As alternative you can use the fifth as a leading tone but make sure its the fifth of the chord your moving to and not the 5th of the chord your in. Your leading tones are used to show the rest of the band where your going.

hope this makes sense to you... if you have any questions feel free to ask.
