I am learning to read standard notation. I am using sites like eMusicTheory.com to read to timed notes. However, this is on the computer keyboard, NOT my bass.

It seems like with the ability to tune with a live instrument and with some scoring software out there, that there would software to respond to your live instrument input to a site reading test. I mean, it seems possible, even if limited by your sampling rate. However, I've searched everywhere for something like this and have found nothing close. The closest was a program which allows you to respond with a midi device.

I have plenty of tools to play with, but can't figure out a way to do this. I have Pro Tools LE 8 (mbox mini), Guitar Pro, and Transcribe!.

Any ideas? This would be the holy grail for site reading practice.

There is software out there that does this in a way. LittleBigStar lets you do a Guitar-Hero-style of game with real instruments. That project was cancelled though and the team behind it is working on a successor called Offbeat.

Guitar Rising was supposed to be released last year as well but it hasn't seen the light of day.
