Thanks for the reply Brainbridge! by sunday my passion for music theory had wained a bit LOL ....didn't mean to skip out!

I can appreciate your eliteness ....i was very much that way at one time but many many cover bands and country rock gigs have mellowed me over the years!

Be careful in your use of he term 'Dominant 7th.'. The term is used to refer to a chord type, not a pitch class. If you are referring to a pitch class then the term 'minor 7th' is appropriate.

Pet peeve of mine, that I will continue to get flak for I am sure.

When in doubt use the diatonic 7th degree. In major mode music all diatonic chords except I and IV will have a minor 7th.
