OK you know it's in D so the I is D the IV is G and the V is A or A7. Listen for the chord changes and see what bass lines you can use. The root five with chromatic runs to the next chord is the classic Country bass line. Start with just roots and when that is easy add the 5. When that is easy use a chromatic walk to the next chord.
