Dub Dub dub...

now its not a question about motorboast...
The other day while doing soundcheck at a gig the soundman accidently bumped the volume way up on my channel before walking away. The whole band immediately notices and one of our guitarists looks at me and says "dude, lay down a dub groove" so I says "what the heck is a dub groove?" and I went on to play a little riff before the soundman realized what he had done and corrected the problem. (our soundman is in no way incompetent, he's very good actually, but he has an app on his ipad the links the soundboard to his ipad and he accidently slid his finger across the slider) so my question is what is a dub groove?

There is no such thing as a "dub groove" per se. What I imagine your friend actually wanted was a reggae bass line. Ignorance abounds where the whole idea of a "dub bass line" is concerned. Dub is a style of remix that treats already existing parts. The bass line itself doesn't change.

On youtube, also check out "ska" bass.

The dub bass thing on youtube seems to have a lot of digital (way low) bass behind some drum tracks and other digital sounds.
