Easy Bass Songs

Sign in to disble this ad
I am in an all female band. I am the least experienced out of my group. I HATE being the weak link. It seems it takes me alot longer to pick up a song than the other girls....depending on the song of course.

But I was wondering, what are some easy rock songs that I could pick up quickly? So we can start getting some songs under our belt. Maybe suggest some of the ones you started with. I have only been playing for about 3 years.

It's only ONE NOTE! But that one note absolutely makes the song. (And, as one note songs go, it is one of the harder ones.)

Some easy classic rock.

Featuring the pentatonic scale:

Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
I Love Rock and Roll -- Joan Jett
Rock You like a Hurricane -- Scorpions
Hair of the Dog -- Nazareth

Some real easy crowd-pleasers:

Hang on Sloopy
Mony Mony
Cocaine

Fairly easy slower songs:

Turn the Page - Bob Seger
Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton

For all my students, we always start with the following:

Walking on the Moon - The Police
With or Without You - U2
Stir It Up - Bon Marley

They have perfect basslines that really function well (rhythmically and harmonically) and have really parts.

Smells Like Teen Spirit, another fairly easy one.

walking on the moon. I didn't think of that. that is easy and REALLY cool. BUT, if the drummer can't pull off a cinvincing reggae rock groove it won't sound too great.

I wouldn't say this one is easy. Its simple, but bloody quick

To be honest it depends on what sort of music you are looking for, there are easy bass lines all over the place.

Its the interesting ones that are hard to find

Houses of the Holy - Led Zeppelin (probably the easiest JPJ song that I know)
Got Me Wrong - Alice In Chains (killer song)
Good Lovin Gone Bad - Bad Company (great riff in the chorus)
Possum Kingdom - Toadies (a nod to the Toadies fan that posted before me)
Just Got Paid Today - ZZ Top (easy, but has a cool harmony part with the guitar)
any song by the Ramones (I love the Ramones)
any song by the Pixies
any song by Silversun Pickups
