Easy songs/riffs to play along with a drummer?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

Today I got together with a friend who is quite competent on drums. As my first experience with playing along with a drummer was really awesome, and we plan to keep it up.This guy has little theoretical knowledge, but he is great at improvising and comes up with great beats for each riff i throw him. Being a newbie I can't improvise anything worth a dime, so easy songs and riffs are the way to go at this stage.

We had a blast playing the well known riff from Stand by me(learned from dman), so I'm looking for something similar. The bass riff must be familiar and easy to recognize. Pumping alot of roots is not the thing I'm looking for.

Thanks, guys

I borrowed my friend's Jazz for a week and came up with this track and had it recorded all within two hours. It was a lot of fun to track over some fake drums - heck, I even through over some guitar and lame vocals!

You can play it, if you want!
